Southern Banded Hunting Horn

This Southern Banded Hunting Horn was recently completed by Honourable Company of Horners craftsmen Mark Ewing and Billy Griner.  The horn was made as an example to be used in an article for the HCH publication The Horn Book during 2011.  The article will cover turning and construction techniques for these unusual and very Southern accoutrements.

Anyone interested in learning to craft horns or other accoutrements made from horn should seriously consider attending the HCH Annual Conference and Horn Fair to be held for 2010 at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, Historic Roscoe Village, In Coshocton, OH March 12-13.  At the conference visitors can see and learn about all aspects of horn making from some of the finest contemporary horn artisans in the US.  There will be a working horn shop demonstration on going during the show as well as several guest speakers.  The public is invited to attend for a small fee at the door.  Memberships in the HCH are available at the meeting.

Those who cannot attend the meeting can always check out the Honoruable Company of Horners at Horn Guild.
